Administration serves multiple functions for the City of Sulphur Springs. First of all the department contains the City Manager, Marc Maxwell, in his role as the chief administrative officer of the City.
Second, the department houses the City Secretary, Natalie Darrow, who serves as the secretary for the City Council as well as the Executive Secretary to the City Manager. Finally, the department also contains the Human Resource Director, Gordon Frazier.
All City staff works for and reports to the City Manager through their respective Department Heads. Only the City Manager, City Secretary and the Municipal Judge report directly to the City Council.
This is a busy time for both the City Council as well as staff as the City’s downtown redevelopment efforts continue to unfold. Implementation of the Project Plan for the Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone was initiated in 2010. After Connally Street was completed in September 2010, staff concentrated on those changes which are necessary to turn downtown into two way traffic. During the last six years the downtown square has been completely reconstructed. The long awaited redevelopment of the old library building will also be completed to provide additional offices as our new City Hall.
